New Perspectives in Oncology Practice, an ancillary program of the Chemotherapy Foundation Symposium on Innovative Cancer Therapy for Tomorrow, is designed to integrate the interests and educational needs of oncology nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, case managers and pharmacists involved in patient care, oncology research and teaching.
Developed by an advisory board, the content focuses on current research findings and their impact on clinical practice, methods to minimize symptoms related to treatment side effects and complications of therapy, effective patient communication skills, treatment strategies for a range of cancers, and various survivorship issues.

Program Goal
This program provides a unique opportunity for non-physician members of the oncology clinical care team to review emerging advances in therapies and symptom management strategies, discuss the impact of science and technology on their profession, and determine how to optimize patient care by integrating their various disciplines.

Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy
Geralyn Lucas
Geralyn Lucas graduated with honors from the Columbia University School of Journalism. After graduating and landing her dream job at 20/20, she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of twenty-seven. Geralyn was an editorial producer at 20/20 for seven years before becoming a director of public affairs at Lifetime Television. Geralyn left Lifetime in January 2008 to work on a screenplay and continue her advocacy work.
The Why I Wore Lipstick television movie premiered on October 23rd on Lifetime Television, starring actress Sarah Chalke of the hit show Scrubs. Geralyn lives in New York City with her husband, Tyler, and her children, Skye and Hayden. She continues to be an activist and voice for women with breast cancer.

Contemporary Forums is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
This activity is approved for 6.6 contact hours. Contemporary Forums is a division of Reed Medical Education.
Physician Assistants
This program is not yet approved for CME credit. Conference organizers plan to request 6.6 hours of AAPA Category I CME credit from the Physician Assistant Review Panel. Total number of approved credits yet to be determined.
Pharmacists
The NYS Council of Health-system Pharmacists is approved by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program, 0134-0000-10-123-L01-P, is approved for .65 CEU’s (6.5 contact hours). Statements of Continuing Pharmacy Education Credit are available at healthsystemce.org to participants upon the conclusion of the program. These statements of credit are available 24/7. Participant must verify attendance at the meeting by entering the program CE code.
Case Managers
Case Managers may obtain CM credits by submitting the ANCC credit to their respective organizations.
